ANACIA WEISKITTEL

Anacia Weiskittel is the Owner and Artistic Director of Degas Dance Studio. She was also the founder, Artistic Director and CEO of the non-profit organization ACFCLA – Artist Community For Change Los Angeles.  Anacia danced professionally for over 10 years with credits including:  the motion picture “Tank Girl” choreographed by Adam Shankman, Acro-dancer for the world famous Follies Bergere, Performer for industrials that included key note speaker George Bush Sr. and General Schwarzkopf and has been teaching and choreographing dance for 20 years.  In addition Anacia is a established professional photographer specializing in candid moments, headshot and dance photography.

 

FACULTY & INSTRUCTORS

 

Rei Aoo – RIP (was a beloved member of our faculty and the foundation of many of our dancers. She will forever be in our hearts and steps.) 

In 2014 Degas Dance Studio created the “Rei Aoo YAGP Memorial Scholarship” in which each year one recipient competing at YAGP (Youth America Grand Prix) with financial hardship would receive a weekly private coaching lesson for the season approximately 9months covered by Degas Dance Studio in honor of Rei Aoo. 

 

Jennifer Currier: YAGP Director -  She began her professional ballet career after receiving scholarships with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Chicago City Ballet and she joined London Hite Ballet Company at the Age of 17. After a series of injuries she transitioned into Broadway and commercial dance styles. She has performed for Films such as "My Best Friends Wedding" and Dance double for Cameron Diaz in the "The Mask" as well as tons of TV, theatre and music videos. She has been choreographing and teaching for over 12yrs and is a highly sought after ballet teacher. She is very similar style to Rachel and will continue to bring a nice warmth and inspiration to our ballet.

 

Kobi Rozenfeld: World-renowned and highly sought after choreographer. He has choreographed world tours for Beyonce’, Hi-5 and stage performances with Macy Gray. He was the choreographer and Artistic Director for the international Musical tour “Barbie Live”. He is a touring teacher with Dupree convention competition and teaches privately for studios and training facilities all over the world. 
 

 

Dasha Tertova:  Grew up dancing with the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow since age 4. Dasha is also a faculty member at AMDA (American Musical & Dramatic Academy College and Conservatory of Performing Arts.)  After performing ballet for years she decided she wanted to learn other styles like Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop.  She has since gone on to perform "Cats" musical, "Riverdance Company" European tour along with professional work that has taken her all over the world. Recently she has worked with Beyoncé, MJ Cirque video, and is one of LA's most sought after dancers for technique and Hip Hop styles.

 

Lilian Manansala: is an actor, dancer, and choreographer. She has worked with Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Raven Symone, Bridgit Mendler, Keke Palmer, G Hannelius, Alyson Stoner, to name a few. Television credits for choreography include abcfamily's Pretty Little Liars; Nickelodeon's The Thundermans; Disney Channel's Bizaardvark!, Best Friends Whenever, Dog with a Blog, Good Luck, Charlie, So Random, Sonny with a Chance, Cory in the House, and That's So Raven; Disney XD shows Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Kirby Buckets, and Kickin' It.

She currently travels and teaches with international workshops TAMJAMS and Fusion Dance Workshop. She trained at Retter's Academy of Dance and received a B.A. in World Arts & Cultures at UCLA. 

 

Danielle Towne:  moved to Los Angeles in 2002. Since then she has been seen on many tours including most recently Black Eyed Peas and Aretha Franklin. You can spot her in numerous music videos with such artists as Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, P Diddy, and Wolfmother. She has traveled the world performing on the stage and can be found dancing in various TV shows, commercials and print ads with credits including Glee, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, The Billboard Awards, I Heart Music Festival, The Disney Channel’s Camp Rock 2 promo, Fresh Beat Band, GM featuring N.E.R.D. and Ciara, Sprint, and more. She has been teaching since the age of 16 and has choreographed shows all over the world

 

Mike Langford:  Hip Hop Crew Director has been working as a professional choreographer and instructor, teaching all over the country and abroad for over 15 years. As a well rounded jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dancer, he has danced for Toby Mac, Raven Simone, Disney’s “That's So Raven”, Shiela E, and more. He is currently a principal dancer for Cantinas Dance Project. Mike loves to share his gift and passion with every student he teaches. Through dance, it is his number one goal to bring students to levels in life they may have never found impossible. 

 

Kris Engelstad:  Dancer / Choreographer: Is one of the hottest up and coming choreographers and teachers on the Jazz/Funk scene. She's a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and a member of Essence Dance Co. She's a technically diverse dancer that is currently one of the most sought after dancers in the industry.

 

 

Laurel Penn:  grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where she trained in all genres of dance and developed a strong competitive dance and convention training background. While still in high school, she began teaching at local dance studios and assisting with their performing companies around the Dallas area; While in LA, she was trained at The Edge Performing Arts Center, Millennium Dance Complex, and the Debbie Allen Dance Institute by some of the best in the business, including, Mia Michaels, Doug Caldwell, Tabitha & Napolean Dumo, Mandy Moore, and Debbie Allen, herself. In and out of LA, Laurel has worked in film and television performances including roles in the hit television shows, “Friday Night Lights” and “American Crime”. She is a seasoned stage and live performer with credits including - Saturday Night Fever, Debbie Allen’s Pepito’s Story and multiple stage industrials. Laurel’s highly energized, exceptional teaching style, and passionate focus on the technique brings a unique experience to her students, keeping them both motivated and inspired.  Laurel is very excited to join the Degas Dance faculty and looks forward to the season ahead!!

 

Katrina Amante: began teaching and choreographing in 2003 and has received a number of awards for her work at regional and national competitions such as Nuvo, Hollywood Vibe and Urban Jam. Katrina's pieces received the Overall Highest Score in a competition, Most Entertaining, Best Choreography and achieved the 2012 Battle of the Stars national award at Hollywood Vibe. She's had experience directing several companies such as BPD Danceforce, Redefinition and was also an artistic director for Dance 2XS Chicago. Katrina has opened for hip hop artist's such as Chris Brown, as well as back up dance for rap artist Rhymefest and DJ Dani Dheal at Lollapalooza. Some other professional experiences include choreographing and dancing for the 24th season anniversary of the Oprah Winfrey Show, Ariana Grande Mobb'd with Todric Hall, Sears commercial and featured in the movie Dhoom 3 (IMAX). Katrina is passionate about teaching and especially loves being able to help build the next generation. Her goal is to not only train skilled dancers but more importantly, hopes to inspire them to build good character.

 

Angelina Prendergast:  Angelina was born into the performing arts and began studying classical ballet at age eight. She was trained in the Royal Academy of Dance repetotire in England, and then studied with Kansas City Ballet, Boston Ballet, Perry Mansfield School of Performing Arts, and Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet NYC. At twelve she joined The Exeter Little Theatre Company UK, and later continued studying acting at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy LA. Angelina picked up a few other skills including stage combat, martial arts, and stilt dancing.  She was very happy to find Yamuna Body Rolling and become an Instructor to save her body from breakdown amidst all the physical work she enjoys. 

 

Katina Childs-Muller:  Has been teaching dance for 24 years. She has taught all styles and loves seeing her students progress.  In addition to teaching Ms. Kat enjoys performing in musical theatreThis summer she enjoyed playing Medda and choreographing Newsies. Miss Kat has danced with Tom Jones, Kenny Rodgers, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Tim Conway and Jay Leno.  Kat has choreographed 8 theme parks throughout the US and in Germany.  She has choreographed shows for Carnival Cruise Lines and for the amazing Joss Whedon in the TV series Angel, many musicals including Guys & Dolls, Bye Bye Birdie, Annie, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Newsies, The Adams Family, Damn Yankees and more.  She was nominated for a choreography awards in New York w/ NYCDA and lost to Sonya Tayeh & Travis Wall, but what an honor to be along side two of her favorites. Her favorite role to date is Mom to her four performing kids. Jacqui Kreisler:  well established Dancer, actress, contortionist and aerialist for TV/Film and live production including the movie Bratz, Eleventh Hour, Dreamland and aerialist cirque performer for Powder. Jacqui also recently performed with Rhianna.  Jacqui grew up technically trained in all dance forms and loves working with young children.  Her combination of technical knowledge and creative teaching style makes dance fun to learn.

 

 

Britney Hall:  grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and started dancing at the age of 6. After graduating high school, she completed a year at Columbia College Chicago where she studied Commercial Dance. Shortly after she knew she wanted to follow her dreams in Los Angeles, California to pursue her professional dance career. While dancing in LA, she’s grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to train and work with some of LA’s top choreographers including, NappyTabs, Michael Rooney, Sabrina Phillip, Adam Parson, Matt Steffanina, Christina Woodard, Lane Napper, Marvin A. Smith, Dana Foglia and Galen Hooks to name a few. She has danced on various television shows including Nickelodeon’s “Victorious,” TLC’S “What Not To Wear,” ABC Family’s “Bunheads.” She has danced in commercials for The Superbowl featuring P.Diddy and American Career College.  Her music video credits include Walk The Moon’s “Tightrope,” IM5 feat Bella Thorne “Can’t Stay Away,” and a video for the movie Dear White People soundtrack “Get Your Life.” She has also danced in many short films, community performances, stage shows, musicals and a live Disney Show at the El Capitan Theater. Her latest accomplishments include working on the Paula Abdul Tribute choreographed by one of the world’s top choreographers, Michael Rooney. More of recent opportunities include dancing on Helene Fischer’s Farbenspiel 2015 World Tour and The Helene Fischer Show which aired on German Television last Christmas Eve.   She hopes to bring great energy into the studio and is excited to get inspired and from all of you!

SarahWalker:  was raised in the small town of Olympia, Washington where she began dancing at a very young age. She trained in ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip hop, jazz, acrobatics, character, and Latin dance. After high school Sarah moved into Seattle, Washington to teach at Premiere Dance Center. In 2012 Sarah auditioned for ABC's So You Think You Can Dance where she made it to the Vegas Finals. After her appearance on the show she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a profession in the dance industry.  She has been seen dancing on professional stages such as the World Dance Awards, Ascend Conference, Dancerpalooza, Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tenessee,  County Fair Entertainment and The Carnival Choreographers ball as well as serving and teaching low-income children in the city.  She was a member of a faith-based dance company "Cantinas Dance Project" where she performed at many industry events as well as faith-based gigs like back-up dancing for Mandisa at the GMA Dove Awards 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee.  Sarah recently started her non-profit, "Seven Arts Company," combining her love for dance, people and faith.
